The Church of Bearville is founded upon the premise that all human beings are created equal. Also that we all have needs that revolve around dealing with the known and the unknown. We can interpret the known with facts and knowledge. The unknown presents no facts, so we must rely upon our beliefs to guide us.
Because beliefs are not knowledge, are not proven fact, they can not always be tested. Perhaps in time as we mature we will increase our knowledge and either prove or refute our beliefs. Whatever the case, knowledge trumps belief, but not vice-versa.
Because belief operates in vacuum of knowledge, all belief is valid. The exception would be when one individual has knowledge, and another individual belief. Those who are working from a perspective of belief need to be open to the knowledge of others. This may sometimes be a very difficult thing to do.
If religion is about belief, and all beliefs are valid, then by definition, our church is open to those of all religious persuasions. Our only firm rule is that the beliefs and practices of our membership may not cause harm to others.
Simple enough? Please send comments if you agree or disagree.
